The municipality has only 395 inhabitants and is located in the province of Pavia, in the southern part of the Pavese. The History of Badia Pavese
Our municipality has a very ancient history, dating back at least to the ninth century, when it was known as ''Caselle Badia''. Nearby stood the Lombard monastery of Santa Cristina and Bissone, whose land was later used to build the settlement. Over the centuries, the territory of Badia Pavese belonged first to the Todeschini and then to the Cusani, within the feudalism of Chignolo Po. During the eighteenth century, the municipality of Cassina del Mezzano was added, always belonging to the same feud.
Symbols of the Municipality
The coat of arms and the banner of Badia Pavese were granted by a decree of the President of the Republic on November 23, 1998. The ears of grain represent the abundant agricultural production of the area, while the heron is a common bird in the region, but it is also a symbol of the reclamation carried out in the marshy area. The white bands on the coat of arms recall the importance of the Po river for the territory and its history.
