Physical geography
Amora extends linearly from sea level at 1,040 meters to 830 meters. The panorama of the Seriana valley and the Bergamo plain is unrivaled, thanks to the highly panoramic position of the hamlet. Amora occupies the central part of the territory of Aviatico and its census territory is delimited to the north by Cornagera mountain, to the west by the other hamlet of Ama, to the east by the locality of Camocco and Ganda, and to the south by the slopes leading to the localities of Belloloco and Petello. The area is easily reachable thanks to the provincial road SP49, which connects it with the main town of Aviatico and with Ganda. In addition, there are also many trails and mule tracks that connect Amora with neighboring towns, such as Ama, Ganda, Petello, and Comenduno.
History
The origins of Amora date back to the period of Millenarism, in the year 999, when some residents of the hamlet of Aviatico abandoned their homes to settle in more sheltered places. However, the area of Amora was uninhabited until the 10th century, when it was assigned to the bishop of Bergamo as a fiefdom by Emperor Otto II of Saxony. Over the centuries, the hamlet has not experienced significant historical events, but has undergone the political transformations that took place in the rest of the province or the region.
