Discovering Santa Margherita di Atri
Hello everyone! Today I will talk about Santa Margherita di Atri, a beautiful hamlet located in the province of Teramo, a few kilometers from the Adriatic Sea. If you love the countryside and tranquility, this is the place for you!
Physical geography
Santa Margherita di Atri is a small hamlet, the second smallest in Atri after San Giacomo, and is surrounded by small hamlets such as Conicella, Falsacappa and Contrada Bertolone. Here you won't find many streets, only 5: via Santa Margherita, via Cavoni, via Logge, via Niccolò degli Arcioni and via Melegnano. The latter is the main road and also indicates the old name of the village before taking on its current name from the patron saint.
Events
Despite its small size, the village offers numerous activities and events. In summer, two important festivals are organized: the "Festa di Margherita di Antiochia" in honor of the patron saint, celebrated on July 20th, and the "Sagra degli Arrosticini e del Formaggio Pecorino," very famous in the province of Teramo, that attracts a lot of visitors every year. In addition, there is a dialect theater festival with the Melegnano Award, and various sports events.
Society
Institutions, organizations and associations
Despite the small number of inhabitants, the village can count on three associations representing the community: the Cultural Association Santa Margherita, the Foundation "La Villa" ONLUS and the Circolo ACLI Santa Margherita. All three associations work to improve the life of the community and promote the organization of cultural events that bring citizens closer.
