Revignano: a district of Asti
Revignano is a small hamlet located in the southwest area of the municipality of Asti, in Piedmont. Together with the town of Vaglierano, it forms the eponymous district covering an area of approximately 15 km². Despite its small size, the locality has around 400 inhabitants and is highly appreciated for its beauty.
The commitment of ProLoco
Since 1978, a group of volunteers has dedicated themselves to enhancing the territory of Revignano, founding the eponymous ProLoco association. Their mission? To promote local culture, preserve traditions, and implement interventions to enhance the livability of the hamlet. Thanks to the activities organized by ProLoco, Revignano's territory has become increasingly well-known and appreciated.
The history of transportation
Along the Asti-Canale Tramway, between 1882 and 1935, there was a stop dedicated to Revignano. This transport service allowed residents to move quickly and conveniently, favoring the development of the hamlet. Today, the stop no longer exists, but the memory of this important service remains alive.
Fabrizio De André's house
Among the curiosities that make Revignano famous, there is the house of singer-songwriter Fabrizio De André. From 1941 to 1945, De André lived in this hamlet with his family. He also spent his summer vacations here until August 1950. In his last album, "Anime Salve" of 1996, the singer dedicated a song to his friend and playmate, Nina Manfieri, who still lives at the "Cascina dell'Orto".
