Discover Torchiagina, a small hamlet in Assisi

Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about Torchiagina, a beautiful hamlet in the province of Perugia, Umbria. If you're looking for an oasis of peace surrounded by nature, this is the right place for you.

The history of Torchiagina

Torchiagina was known in the Middle Ages as "Clasina" and its name first appears in a document from 980, preserved in the archives of the Cathedral of Assisi. This area was often contested between Assisi and Perugia during periods of territorial conflict. It was attacked by the Perugian general Piccinino in 1442, occupied by the Perugian Braccio Baglioni in 1443, and recaptured by Count Fiumi di Sterpeto in 1495. The particularity of Torchiagina is its tower, named "Tower of Chiagina," which was the scene of a tragic love story in 1534.
