Arta Terme is a thermal town located in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, at an altitude of 442 meters in the Alpine region of Carnia. With a population of 2,034 inhabitants, this lovely town is the perfect place for relaxation, thermal treatments and a surprising cultural experience.

Demographic evolution
The demographic evolution of Arta Terme has been constant over the years, reaching its peak in 1991 with 2,357 inhabitants. However, the population has decreased in the following decade, reaching the current 2,034 inhabitants.
Languages and dialects
It is interesting to note that in addition to the Italian language, the population of Arta Terme actively uses the Friulian language. For this reason, the Municipality has been included in the list of Italian municipalities with Friulian language for the purposes of the application of Law 482/99, Regional Law 15/96 and Regional Law 29/2007. The Friulian language spoken in Arta Terme belongs to the variants belonging to Carnic Friulian.
Culture
One of the most important names when it comes to Arta Terme is Giosuè Carducci. The famous poet stayed there, drawing inspiration from Carnia for his works, including the famous "The Rustic Municipality" written in 1885. So if you are passionate about poetry, Arta Terme is the place to visit!
Anthropogenic geography
The Municipality of Arta Terme includes several hamlets, each with its unique characteristics:
- Avosacco (''Davosâs'', in Carnic ''Davosjâs'')
- Cabia (''Cjabie'')
- Cedarchis (''Cedarcjis'', in Carnic ''Cedarcjes''), located south of the municipality, at the intersection of the two rivers Chiarsò and Bût.
- Lavoreit (''Lavorêt'')
- Lovea (''Luviee'')
- Piano d'Arta (''Dimplan'')
- Piedim (''Piedim'')
Piano d'Arta
Piano d'Arta, located at 560 meters, is the most important summer resort center in the Municipality. Here you can find the thermal facilities of the municipal capital Arta, and the church of the Holy Spirit, from the 14th century, which offers exceptional architectural beauty.
Piedim
Piedim was an integral part, along with Ricornut, of the municipality of Rivalpo. The name derives from the fact that the village is located at the "feet" of the surrounding mountains. Here you can find the landing for large-scale timber (''taés'') with some processed on the spot and others directed towards other destinations.
