Historical origins of Arconate
The territory of Arconate was inhabited by the Ligurians in ancient times, but it was the Celts who occupied this area in the 5th century BC. The Ligurian presence is still traceable in the local dialect. When the Romans conquered Cisalpine Gaul, they revolutionized the territorial organization restructuring agricultural fields and creating roads and paths. After the fall of the Roman Empire, the area suffered numerous barbarian invasions, until the settlement of the Lombards in 568.
During this period, numerous churches were built in the area, headed by the Parish Church of Dairago. Arconate first appeared on a document of the Monastero Maggiore in Milan in 1027, and in 1164 it became the fiefdom of Rainald von Dassel. The village was governed by the noble Arconati family, which took their name from the place of origin. A monastery of the Umiliati Friars and a castle stood beside the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie. In the thirteenth century, Arconate counted about 250 inhabitants dedicated to agriculture, and the village was dominated by the nobility.

In the Napoleonic modern era, feudalism was abolished, and Arconate became part of the Kingdom of Italy. During the nineteenth century, the village underwent a process of industrialization and demographic growth, thanks to its strategic position near Milan and the presence of various commercial activities. In the twentieth century, Arconate has seen significant urban development, guided by the building expansion policies of the city of Milan.
