Bagnoli

Bagnoli: a village immersed in the woods of Tuscany

Bagnoli, a hamlet of the Italian municipality of Arcidosso, is located on the western slopes of Mount Amiata, in the province of Grosseto. The territory is rich in water springs and hosts the wonderful waterfall of Acqua d'Alto, which is 25 meters high. Bagnoli's privileged position makes it an ideal place to live in contact with nature, surrounded by the beauty of dense chestnut woods.

The history of Bagnoli and the wool processing industry

The nucleus of Bagnoli was formed around the Church of Santa Mustiola around 1205. Over the centuries, the village has developed and other villages and hamlets have been born next to the original center. The hamlet of Bagnoli was famous for the wool processing industry, an activity in which Arcidosso has always stood out, possessing one of the most important wool mills in the area. The building of the Bagnoli Woolen Mill, located near the waterfall and now in ruins, is a valid example of industrial architecture. It was active several times between 1875 and 1930 and represents an important part of the territory's history.
