Arcene: between nature, traditions and historical beauty.

Traditions and festivals

Arcene is a village that still preserves numerous traditions that have deep roots in the past. One of the oldest and most heartfelt is the fair of St. Anne, the patron saint of the village, which takes place every year between July and August. On this occasion, families set up stalls and artisan demonstrations in which they display their best products: there is no shortage of culinary specialties, such as casoncelli, cured meats, and traditional Bergamo sweets.

Another very popular festival is that of patron saint St. Martin, which is celebrated every November 11th. On this occasion, the streets of the village come alive with stalls and gastronomic stands offering typical dishes and local products. The tradition of the living nativity scene is also very popular, which takes place during the Christmas period and involves adults and children in a unique and exciting experience.

Places to visit

Arcene is an ideal place for a tourist visit to discover the beauties of Lombardy. Among the attractions to see, the Longhi-De Paoli Castle stands out, a fifteenth-century building with medieval layout and a lookout tower, cared for and restored over the years by various families of owners. Also very suggestive is the visit to the parish church of St. Anne, with its square-shaped bell tower and baroque interior.

Finally, an excursion to the nature reserve of the Freddo Valley represents an unforgettable experience for trekking and nature lovers: the reserve covers 70 hectares of woods, meadows, and watercourses, with a rich fauna and flora. An unmissable opportunity to admire unspoiled beauty up close.

Conclusions

Arcene is a corner of Lombardy rich in traditions and natural beauty, a place that still preserves its rural identity despite the evolution of times. An ideal destination for a visit to discover the history of the province of Bergamo, its traditions, and its people.
