Discovering Colle, the hamlet of Arba

Hi everyone! Today I want to talk to you about Colle, a splendid hamlet of the Municipality of Arba, located in the province of Pordenone.

Physical geography

Colle is located in the northeastern area of the municipal territory, on the right bank of the Meduna river. After the river, you can find Sequals, which is hidden by Mount Palis. The village is divided into two parts: the "low" part is developed around the crossroads formed by the State Road 464 of Spilimbergo and the axis of via Arba-via Sequals, while the "high" part is located on a modest hill where the church stands.

Monuments and places of interest

Parish church

The parish church of San Gottardo is one of the most important monuments of Colle. The church is very old and dates back to 1441, when it was consecrated by the bishop of Concordia-Pordenone Giovanni Battista dal Legname. According to some scholars, the church underwent various renovations and modifications, but there is no certain evidence about this.

The current building, designed by Ettore Polesel, was completed in 1987 following the Friuli earthquake of 1976, which destroyed the original structure. Inside the church, you can admire an eighteenth-century wooden pulpit that comes from the old church.

Colle was elevated to a parish in 1959, after being separated from the pieve of Cavasso Nuovo in 1753.
