Lido dei Pini

Welcome to Lido dei Pini!

Hi everyone and welcome to Lido dei Pini, a beautiful tourist-residential resort on the Lazio coast, just a few kilometers from Rome and the municipality of Anzio. The beauty of our coastline was recognized with the Blue Flag in 2017, a very important recognition for us.

The geography of Lido dei Pini

For those who may not know, the term "Lido dei Pini" also refers to the part of the municipality of Ardea that extends from SP 95/b Via Laurentina (junction of Tor San Lorenzo) to the border with Anzio. Lido dei Pini also includes a part towards the hills, including the consortia of Lupetta and Colle Romito, unified with Lido dei Pini but falling within the municipality of Ardea. There are also some areas outside the consortia. Our resort is surrounded by nature and the sea, making it ideal for those looking for a vacation focused on relaxation and fun.

The history of Lido dei Pini

Lido dei Pini was a Lazio swamp until the reclamation in 1936, after which it became a place of rest for Allied troops during World War II. The beach of Lido dei Pini was also one of the places where the Anzio landing took place in January 1944. Our coastline, together with that of Tor Caldara and Tor San Lorenzo, was called "Peter Beach".

The name "Lido dei Pini" derives from the pine forest that was planted immediately after the end of the war to restore the vegetation destroyed by bombings and fires. Before the war, the forest was mainly composed of pine, oak, and cork oak trees. The Gallinara forest joined the Padiglione forest, which extended towards the current area of Aprilia, up to the Tower of Padiglione. In the territory of Lido dei Pini there is also the archaeological area of Colle Rotondo, where an ancient Italic population was found.

Urbanization and tourism

The urbanization of Lido dei Pini began in the 1960s thanks to the subdivision of the estate of Princess Borghese, promoted by Galileo Scavizzi. The area became very popular among tourists, especially in the summer, to the point of becoming the venue for numerous campsites. Over the years, Lido dei Pini has seen the arrival of increasingly demanding tourism looking for a vacation focused on relaxation, culture, and art.
