Angolo Terme

Welcome to Angolo Terme!

Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about Angolo Terme, a small municipality of 2298 inhabitants located in Val Camonica, in the province of Brescia.

A thermal and holiday resort

Angolo Terme is famous for its thermal waters, which make it a renowned health and holiday resort. But that's not all! The mild climate and the nearby ski resorts of Colle Vareno and Monte Pora make it attractive also for mountain and winter sports enthusiasts.

Angolo Terme: a spa and mountain resort in the Val Camonica.

Physical geography

The center of the Lombard Prealps is located in the lower Val di Scalve, on the right bank of the Dezzo stream, which descends from the homonymous valley and gives its name to the Val d'Angolo. Here you can admire forests of white and red firs and pastures with typical mountain huts. In summer, you can go on numerous nature hikes, while in winter the presence of ski lifts connected to those of Monte Pora is a tourist attraction.

History

Angolo Terme has a very ancient history: it was already an important mining center since the 4th century BC, and it was characterized as a center of agricultural and artisan production. Already from the 12th century, its history was closely linked to that of the noble family Federici, while in 1509 it appears in the map of the Valle Camonica, drawn by Leonardo da Vinci and kept at Windsor Castle. During the construction of the road to Val di Scalve, which is 13 km long, the Passo di Giogo was avoided, thanks to the project of the engineer Paolo Fiorini di Darfo. In 1923, unfortunately, several houses were damaged by the collapse of the Gleno dam, causing the death of 46 inhabitants.

Conclusions

Welcome to Angolo Terme, the thermal and holiday resort of Val Camonica! Here you can enjoy thermal waters, beautiful mountain landscape, numerous nature hikes in summer, and ski resorts in winter. Its millennial history is linked to that of the noble family Federici, and its geographical location makes it an ideal starting point for discovering the Lombard Prealps.
