Montesicuro was an independent municipality until 1928, when it was abolished by royal decree and merged with the Municipality of Ancona, becoming one of its districts. It is part of the defensive system of the Castles of Ancona, built to protect the borders of the Republic of Ancona.

The village has various historical buildings, including Villa Foschi, now a center for the elderly, the parish church, which underwent restoration in 1750, the Town Hall with the old clock, the Post Office building (which used to be the Fascist Party Building), and the old building that now serves as a nursing home, but previously housed a seminary.
