In 1992, during the installation of a fence, a significant quantity of bronze age pottery was found in the Borgo del Magnano area, not far from the Ameno cemetery. Walter Baronchelli, a local resident, reported the discovery and the material was then preserved at the Ameno Municipality.

On September 26, 2012, Ameno was awarded the Green Flag and the mark "Sustainable Village of Piedmont - Location for more responsible tourism".
