In 1497, the village adopted a statute and acquired some independence. In 1863, Porchiano became an autonomous municipality, before being merged into the current municipality of Amelia in 1876.

The village is alive with various events, including the celebration of Saint Simeone I of Jerusalem, the patron saint of the village, which takes place on February 18. On July 24, Saint Cristina of Bolsena, co-patroness of the village, is celebrated.
