Welcome to Macchie, a hamlet of the municipality of Amelia located on a hill at 520 meters above sea level and just 9 kilometers from the center of Amelia, Italy. This small hamlet was known as "Castrum Machiae" during antiquity, thanks to the presence of surrounding bushes. Owned by Amerino even then, the place boasts a medieval legend that tells of Frederick Barbarossa, who is said to have made a stop on this hill during his descent towards Rome, when the city was decimated by the plague.

There are numerous monuments that are worth a visit in Macchie. The walls, a tower, and the gate of the ancient castle have been well preserved and represent one of the attractions of the town.
