Amblar: A historical hamlet in Trentino
Hello everyone! Today I will talk to you about Amblar, a hamlet of the municipality of Amblar-Don, in the autonomous province of Trento, with a very interesting history!
History
The origin of Amblar is uncertain, but it is known that this place played an important role in the historical events of the 12th century, when it came under pressure from the counts of Tyrol on the episcopal Anaunia. In 1302, with the reconciliation between the bishops and the counts, Amblar was ceded to the latter, belonging to the jurisdiction of Castelfondo. In 1363, with the extinction of the line of descent of Mainardo II, Count of Tyrol, Castelfondo fell under the control of the Habsburgs, emperors of Austria, who maintained the link with Amblar until 1918, the year of the transfer of Trentino to Italy.
An important historical symbol of the valley is the Vall'Avena gate, a building in Romanesque architecture that marked the border between Amblar and other towns.
