Nommisci
Greetings
Hello everyone! Today we will talk about a beautiful little village located at 1,195 meters above sea level called Nommisci. Grab a cup of hot tea and get ready to discover all its secrets with me!
History
Nommisci was known as "Anomici" since 1100 and has always been a small fraction of the municipality of Amatrice. In the past, the village was in a different location from the current one, but after an earthquake, it was rebuilt about a kilometer downstream, where it is now.
Monuments and Places of Interest
Nommisci has a Church of Sant'Anna, the patron saint of the village, located on top of the hill, with a distinctive bell tower visible from almost every corner of the village. Under the bell tower is the Monument to the Fallen, in memory of the villagers who lost their lives fighting during the two world wars.
Continuing on the mule track, you reach the "Pianone" locality from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Monti della Laga, the Gran Sasso, and Lake Campotosto. If you instead follow "Via della Fonte Vecchia," you will find a spring built and periodically maintained by the people of the village, where pure spring water flows.
The old school in the village has been transformed into a recreational area and used during summer festivities organized by the Committee. In the past, the structure housed the elementary school in the village.
Village Life
During the summer, the Pro-Nommisci Committee organizes folkloric events to liven up the village and involve visitors. Nommisci has been divided into two parts, "Capolavilla" located on the hill and "Sorepella" further down. The square of Capolavilla is one of the points of interest of the village where you will find one of the fountains and a washhouse used in the past by the village housewives for laundry.
Mountains and Trails
Nommisci is particularly known for its privileged position in the Parco dei Monti della Laga, also considered the altitude, from which you can admire the Monti della Laga such as Pizzo di Sevo, Cima Lepri, and Monte Gorzano. Near the village, you can find several mule tracks, used in the past by shepherds to take animals to pasture in the mountains.
That's everything you can visit in Nommisci! I hope this article has made you want to visit this corner of paradise, and I invite you to share your experience with us. Until next time!
