Near the Parish Church dedicated to Mary Magdalene, there was an ancient fortified castle belonging to the Torti family, which gave its name to the nearby town. The castle was conquered and destroyed by the Spanish in the 18th century, and today there is no trace of it. In the past, river floods have often changed the shape of the territory, and this conflicting relationship with water is reflected in the names of the towns in the area.
