History

Pre-Protohistoric Age

In the territory of Altavilla Vicentina, evidence of prehistoric age has been found, such as two polished stone axes, which date back to the Neolithic. In addition, along terraces arranged on the north slope of the Rocca hill, ceramic artifacts and objects related to both normal productive and domestic activities have been found, dating back to the Late Bronze Age.

Roman Age

No systematic excavations have been carried out regarding the Roman era in Altavilla Vicentina, but it has been discovered that the castle dates back to this historical period and archaeological excavations are planned in the church of the castle.
