History

The territory of Altavilla Monferrato boasts a long history dating back to 1026, when the land was granted in feudalism by the Emperor Conrad II to the Novalesa Abbey. In the 14th century, the town came under the dominion of Theodore I of Monferrato, who surrounded it with walls and built a castle. Today, only some ruins of the castle remain, incorporated into a residential building. In 1708, Altavilla Monferrato came under the dominion of the House of Savoy.

Symbols

The coat of arms of the town, which dates back to 1861, represents the Bellone Marquis family. It consists of a white background with a golden frame, four red poles, and a silver band across the middle.
