Exploring the Province of Terni: a diverse and stunning landscape

Welcome to the Province of Terni, a diverse and stunning landscape located in the southwest part of Umbria. The province has a population of 216,911, and was established in 1927 when it was separated from the Province of Umbria.

Physical Geography: between valleys and forested mountains

The Province of Terni borders the Province of Perugia to the north, Lazio (Province of Rieti and Province of Viterbo) to the east, south and west, and Tuscany (Province of Siena) to the northwest. The territory stretches from the confluence of the Nera River and Velino River to the confluence of the Tiber River with the Chiani and Paglia rivers. The terrain alternates between large flat valleys and forested mountains of modest height. Some of the most famous mountains are Mount Peglia (837m), Mount Croce di Serra (994m) between Terni and Orvieto, the steep slopes of Valnerina (with the 1672m above sea level of Mount Aspra, between Ferentillo and Monteleone di Spoleto), the Martani Mountains (Mount Torre Maggiore, 1121m above sea level), and the Marmore waterfalls.
