Albuzzano

Albuzzano is a small municipality in the province of Pavia, located in the eastern area of the Po Valley and home to 3563 inhabitants. Its name comes from the dialectal version "Albusàn" and its history dates back to the 12th century when it was called Albuciano.
A Feudal History
In the early Middle Ages, Albuzzano belonged to the lower countryside of Pavia and the territory was feudalized to the Basilica of the Most Holy Savior of Pavia. In the 14th century, it became a lordship of the Beccaria of Pavia, while in 1431 it passed to the Barbiano of Belgioioso. Later, in the 18th century, the small villages of Alperolo and Torre d'Astari were also incorporated, which previously did not belong to the fief of Albuzzano. Subsequently, in 1872, the municipality of Barona was also merged with Albuzzano, becoming a larger town.

The banner of Albuzzano is an azure cloth, while the coat of arms was granted by decree of the President of the Republic on October 24, 1963.

Demographic Growth
Albuzzano has undergone significant demographic evolution over the centuries. In 1576 it had only 300 inhabitants, while in 1859 the number of inhabitants had grown to 1483.
