Traces of the Roman era remain, such as the "tegula" with an engraved funerary inscription found in a field outside the town. The municipality of Albano Vercellese was already mentioned in the 10th century when it was one of the earliest parish churches of the Vercelli church. Throughout history, the municipality was under the possession of various counts and lords, including the De Albano and the Visconti. In 1621, the county of Albano received the status of a county by merit of Duke Carlo Emanuele I of Savoy.

The castle belonging to the Mercurino Filiberto Arborio family, dating back to the 15th century, is one of the most important buildings in the town and an old protagonist of the history of Albano Vercellese. In the apse of the Oratory of the Most Holy Trinity dating back to the 12th century, one can admire 15th-century frescoes representing the "Most Holy Trinity", the "Madonna with the Child adored by the Magi", the "Twelve Apostles", and the "Eight Prophets". The parish church of the Assumption, with its neoclassical facade, and the Oratory of San Rocco, with frescoes dating back to the 17th century, are also places of interest not to be missed!

The cultivation of rice is the main economic activity in the town. In the past, Albano Vercellese was also the location of a paper mill, which, however, has not been active since 1980. Today, the old buildings of the paper mill have been converted into depots and warehouses for goods and local markets. Furthermore, the town also hosts the Natural Park of the Sesia River, which offers a real natural oasis for tourists and locals.
