Welcome to Serravalle, a hamlet of the municipality of Ala located in the heart of Vallagarina, in Trentino! This small village is situated on the banks of the Adige river, surrounded by beautiful vineyards and olive groves.
The history of Serravalle
Serravalle has a long history dating back to the Christian Emperor Maximilian I of Habsburg, who ordered the demolition of the old fortress of the village to facilitate the passage of imperial troops.
During the First World War, Serravalle was the place where negotiations took place for the Armistice of Villa Giusti in Padua. Austro-Hungarian envoys appeared in front of the Italian lines in 1918 to begin negotiations for the end of the conflict.
The village was also an autonomous municipality from 1920 until 1928, when it was merged with the municipality of Ala.
What to visit in Serravalle
Despite its small size, Serravalle is rich in monuments and historical attractions. For example, the church of Saints Fabian and Sebastian in Ala, located a short distance from the hamlet, is a beautiful baroque church built in the 18th century.
Serravalle is also an ideal starting point for exploring the Adige valley by bike, thanks to the Adige Valley cycle path. You can rent a bike and ride through the village along the cycle path that winds along the Adige river.

Serravalle is easily accessible thanks to the SS12 Abetone-Brennero road and the A22 motorway. In addition, the hamlet is served by the Serravalle all'Adige railway station, which allows you to reach other destinations in the region.
