In fact, the town is famous for its canals and the fact that the Bacchiglione river used to pass through it, before the river broke its banks and caused damage to the people of Padua. Completely flat, the town is situated between the Berici Hills and the Euganean Hills, providing its visitors with a unique and suggestive spectacle.
The origin of the name Agugliaro
The name of the town derives from the Latin "aquillarium", which means "aquarium". It is a clear reference to the numerous water sources that are abundant in the area. In fact, Agugliaro is crossed by various canals that represent one of the main attractions of the place. In some maps of the 16th century, the town is also recorded as "Lagugiaro".
The history of Agugliaro

The castle of Agugliaro is certainly the most important building of that time. Although it no longer exists today, its appearance can be reconstructed thanks to some historical documents. In the fourteenth century, during the Scaliger domination, the territory of Agugliaro was under the civil authority of the vicariate of Orgiano and remained so until the end of the eighteenth century.

The coat of arms and the banner of the municipality of Agugliaro were granted by the decree of the President of the Republic on January 13th, 2003. The banner is a white cloth, while the coat of arms represents an eagle with its wings spread, flying towards the sun.
