Montaperto
The beautiful story of Montaperto
Hello friends! Today I want to talk to you about a beautiful village in the province of Agrigento, called Montaperto. It is located about seven kilometers from Agrigento and has about 400 inhabitants. Are you ready to immerse yourself in the history of this place?
Montaperto is an area dating back to the 14th century and belonged to the Firenze degli Uberti family. In 1523, Pietro Montaperto obtained a license from King Charles V to build the village, but work did not begin until 1565. The Montaperto family received the title of marquis in the 17th century, which they held until 1812.
Montaperto was a sub-municipality of Agrigento and also had a deputy mayor, but since 2005 it has been part of the III District of the municipality of Agrigento. In the village there are two churches: the church of San Lorenzo, dating back to the 18th century, and the church of the Rosary, built in the early decades of the 19th century.
