The ideal climate

You can't talk about Agliana without mentioning its fantastic climate. The weather station is located in the hamlet of Ferruccia, where temperatures begin to increase.

The lowest average temperatures are reached in January with 1.5°C, while the highest temperatures are reached in July with 32.2°C.

The history of Agliana

The history of Agliana dates back to the 1st century BC. Thanks to the construction of an important communication route, the Via Cassia, it became an important center of commercial exchange, called ''Statio Hellana'', where the Agna stream passed. The first documented news of Agliana dates back to a Roman itinerary map called Tabula Peutingeriana. A part of the Aglianese territory was affected by a great centuriation work, while the remaining territory remained uncultivated destined to public domain.

The name of the municipality underwent many evolutions over time, as demonstrated by a "cartula" of Viscount Ildibrando of 1022, where the municipality is mentioned as "Aliana", replacing the older name "Alina". In the area there is still a castle today, of which there is news since 1050, and between the 12th and 13th centuries, three residential nuclei developed, each with its own parish church to take the name.

In the lower course of the Agna, important deviation and embankment works were carried out, giving rise to the current Calice stream.

Conclusions

In conclusion, Agliana is a small pearl of Tuscany that deserves to be visited. Its thousand-year-old history makes it fascinating and evocative, while its Mediterranean climate makes it perfect for a relaxing holiday. I hope this brief virtual tour has piqued your interest and that you will soon have the opportunity to visit this magnificent city. See you soon!
