Fasana Polesine

Fasana Polesine: a hamlet of Adria

Hi everyone! Today I want to talk about a hamlet of the town of Adria called Fasana Polesine. Yes, I know that maybe for many of you this name doesn't mean much, but I promise you that it's interesting to discover a bit of history about this village.

History of Fasana Polesine

The village of Fasana has existed for a long time, since the 13th century in fact! It's said that the name comes from "phasianus", which means pheasant, because in this area there were many pheasants. In 1804, during the period of Napoleon, Fasana was established as an autonomous commune along with the hamlets of Ca' Emo and Ca' Tron, being part of the Veneto region. The emblem of the commune was a pheasant on a rock! With the annexation of the Veneto to Italy (after the Third Italian War of Independence), the village changed its name to "Fasana di Polesine". In the 1990s, the municipal seat was moved to Ca' Emo and the commune of Fasana became a hamlet of Adria. In 1928, however, the commune of Ca' Emo was abolished and divided between Adria and Villadose. Today, Fasana is part of the diocese of Chioggia, belonging to the Vicariate of Cavarzere.
