Bellombra
Bellombra, the Small Hamlet of Adria
Hello friends, today I want to talk to you about a charming hamlet in the municipality of Adria, in the province of Rovigo: Bellombra. This area was known in medieval times as "Corbula inferior" and was part of the territory of Corbola, until the Rotta di Ficarolo separated it from the latter. Bellombra can boast a historic country villa of the Este family, included among the "Delizie estensi".
The History of Bellombra
According to Giovanni Battista Rampodi, the hamlet had 1,500 inhabitants in 1831. In 1923, Bellombra became an autonomous municipality, detached from Bottrighe together with the hamlet of Panarella. The two municipalities had respectively 2,204 and 1,315 inhabitants in 1921. But a few years later, in 1928, the municipality of Bellombra was suppressed and its territory was aggregated to Adria, with the exception of the hamlet of Panarella (which has 1,704 residents), which was annexed to the municipality of Papozze. The old ISTAT code of Bellombra was 029801.

It is interesting to know that in the hamlet of Adria there is also the Church of San Giacomo Apostolo, which can be visited by tourists and residents. To learn more about the history of Bellombra, it is possible to consult various sources, including Rampodi's Corografia dell'Italia.
