Casigliano

Welcome to Casigliano!

Hello everyone, today we will talk about Casigliano, a small hamlet in the municipality of Acquasparta, in the province of Terni. If you are looking for a quiet place surrounded by nature, Casigliano is the perfect place for you!

History

The village has a long history dating back to Roman times, when legion troops were sent to the area near Tuder by Augustus. In the Middle Ages, after the destruction caused by the barbarians, a castle was built by its inhabitants under the rule of Ludovico degli Atti.

In the castle there are the fortress, designed by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger, and the Church of San Biagio, which contains the sarcophagi of the Atti, lords of Todi, and other important personalities of the time.

The castle was purchased by the Corsini prince of Florence in 1605 and, even today, his heirs are its owners and carefully care for it.

Exploring the history and monuments of Casigliano.

Monuments and places of interest

The main place of interest is the Church of San Biagio, located inside the castle. The crypt contains the sarcophagi of the lords of Todi and other important personalities of the time.

Notes

According to the 2001 census, the village has only 67 residents, but 186 according to the municipality's website.

Other projects

I recommend visiting nearby villages such as Acquasparta and Todi, which offer many cultural and historical attractions.

If you are looking for a quiet place to relax and enjoy nature, I recommend visiting Casigliano and its historic monuments. You won't regret it!
