Starting from the 17th century, Aci Bonaccorsi began to develop as a village, thanks to the neighborhoods of Liuna, Battiati, and Pauloti. In this period, the separation of the hamlets of Aci occurred and the municipalities of Aci Bonaccorsi, Aci Castello, Aci San Filippo, and Aci Sant'Antonio were born.

The coat of arms of the municipality of Aci Bonaccorsi represents the castle of Aci and the three Cyclops islands, a symbol of the ancient Universitas of Aci. The same coat of arms has also been adopted by other municipalities in the area, such as Aci Castello, Acireale, and Aci Catena.
